Why Predictable Routines Help, and How to Build Them
The case for structure, and a realistic starting point for busy families.

Predictability reduces the cognitive load of a day. For a child working to catch up developmentally, knowing roughly what comes next frees up energy that would otherwise go toward managing uncertainty.
A routine doesn't need to be elaborate to help. A consistent order to the morning, a visual schedule on the fridge, or even just naming what's coming next out loud can be enough to notice a difference.
In sessions, routines are introduced one small piece at a time rather than all at once. The advice given to families most often is the same: pick one moment of the day to make predictable first, and let the rest follow once that one feels steady.
