Cookies and local storage
The honest, short version. No tracker jargon.
The short answer
Boardly doesn't currently set traditional server-side cookies. Everything below lives in your browser's own local storage instead, which does the same job (remembering things between visits) without a cookie file changing hands on every request. If that distinction doesn't matter to you, feel free to just think of it as "cookies", that's why the banner calls it that.
What's stored, and why
Keeping you signed in
Supabase (the service that runs the actual login and database) stores your session token in local storage so you don't have to log in every time you open the app. If you unchecked "Remember me" at login, this clears itself automatically the next time you fully close and reopen your browser.
Your preferences
Light/dark theme, sort order, card density, sound on/off, accent color, board background, and calendar vs. board view, all remembered per device so you don't have to reset them every visit.
Progress and streaks
Your level, XP, streak, and badge progress are tracked locally on this device, they don't sync to other devices you use.
Working offline
Changes you make with no internet connection are queued locally until you're back online, so nothing gets lost.
Small conveniences
Your saved task templates, your last few quick-add entries (so the up arrow can recall them), which board you had open last, and whether you've already seen the onboarding tour or this cookie notice.
What we don't do
- No third-party advertising or tracking scripts.
- No analytics that follow you across other websites.
- Nothing here is sold or shared with anyone.
Clearing it yourself
All of this lives in your browser, not on a server tied to you specifically, so clearing your browser's site data for Boardly (or just using a private/incognito window) removes every bit of it, including signing you out.
